DS200DCFBG1BLC: Used, Clean, and Tested
This DS200DCFBG1BLC is a used, clean-and-tested G1-group DCFB – the Power Supply Board GE built for the EX2000 excitation control system, with the same board shared across the DC2000, CB2000, FC2000, GF2000, ME2000, and AC2000 IGBT drive families. It supplies control-level power to the drive or exciter and 115 VAC to the enclosure cooling fans, taking 38 VAC and 115 VAC input from the control power transformer (CPT). The board hosts control-level power supplies (+5 V, ±15 V, ±24 V), motor/generator field power circuits, driver circuits for the armature SCR gate pulse generators, and instrumentation circuits for AC line and DC motor signals.
The DCFB is wired directly to the SDCC drive control card (or LDCC on EX2000 systems) through the 1PL and 2PL connectors. The CPT's 38 VAC feed is rectified and filtered to ±24 VDC (+24 V at 3 A, -24 V at 1 A); onboard regulators derive ±15 VDC from that, and the +24 VDC rail also produces a +5 VDC, 4 A output – the same 5 V rail that keeps the drive control card's own microprocessor running.
Diagnose First: A DCFB Fault Can Mimic an SDCC/LDCC Fault
Because the DCFB's power-good signal directly controls the drive control card, a failing DCFB and a failing SDCC/LDCC can look exactly the same from the fault display. The /PSEN signal on 2PL sits TTL-low while the +5 VDC output is properly regulated, and switches high – forcing an SDCC/LDCC microprocessor reset – the moment that rail sags. If your drive or exciter keeps resetting, check the DCFB's power supply before you replace the drive control card. Before ordering any replacement:
-
Read the DCFB's onboard fuse indicators. LEDs CR51 and CR55 flag a blown FU2 or FU3 (7 A power-output fuses); a neon lamp at LT1 flags a blown FU1 (1/2 A, on the 115 VAC fan output).
-
Measure the +5 V and ±24 V rails at the SDCC/LDCC before assuming its own logic has failed.
-
Question repeat failures in the same card position. Experienced Mark V/EX2000 technicians consistently find that a card that keeps failing in the same slot usually points to a field device, wiring, voltage, or current problem downstream – not defective replacement boards.
-
Don't rule out the companion card. There are documented cases of a DCFB and its companion LDCC failing together where the actual fault traced back to a burnt capacitor on the LDCC. Since GE never released full schematics for this card generation, a specialized repair shop with card-level test equipment is often the fastest way to a confirmed diagnosis.
Understanding DS200DCFBG1BLC
DS200 is the board series prefix, DCFB is the Power Supply Board acronym, G1 is this board's product grouping, and BLC is the specific functional and artwork revision combination. GE's manual reference is GEI-100028. We haven't found a documented functional difference between G1 and G2 DCFB groups, so treat the group letter as a hardware/manufacturing revision and always match the full suffix on the card you're replacing.
Related Boards and Longer-Term Options
The DCFB pairs with the SDCC (or LDCC on EX2000) drive control card and the panel's TCPS power supply. If a platform migration is part of your plans, see our Mark V vs Mark VI: DS200 to IS200 guide. For the logic behind GE's Speedtronic part numbers, see the GE Speedtronic Part Number Decoder, and for how the DCFB fits with other DS200 boards, see GE Mark V DS200 Boards Explained.
