In practice, this reinforces why different PCCA groups shouldn't be treated as interchangeable without checking the old board's label.

How to Diagnose Before Replacing the Board

A converter with a firing failure or overvoltage tends to point straight to a suspected burned-out PCCA. Before confirming the purchase, it's worth ruling out:

• The SCRs themselves and the firing cabling between the PCCA and the bridge — a faulty thyristor reproduces the same symptom.
• The board's configurable jumpers (armature voltage range and snubber/feedback configuration) — the wrong setting on a new board causes the same failure as the old one.
• If the fault is a recurring voltage spike, check whether the absence of a snubber is a normal characteristic of the G5 group in your application, rather than a failed component.
• The power supply feeding the power assembly, which can mask board symptoms.
