IS200BPPBH2CAA: A Later Group in the BPPB Family
The IS200BPPBH2CAA carries the H2C group designation, one step on from the H2B-series BPPB boards more commonly associated with Mark VI. GE's own documentation for this group references the Mark VIe control system rather than the original Mark VI, though the underlying job is the same one every BPPB performs: regulating a +28 VDC nominal supply down to the +5 VDC and ±15 VDC rails an I/O pack's other circuits need, and managing the processor-to-rack data path across the backplane. It is a daughterboard, not a standalone rack card — it mounts inside its host I/O pack using four standoffs seated into brass-plated corner holes, with three edges shaped to clear neighboring components.
On the Mark VIe platform, this class of board supports a system built for redundancy and maintainability, with I/O positioned close to the equipment it monitors and dual Unit Data Highway networks for communication resilience. The board itself carries two LED indicators along one edge, two connectors of different sizes, two phone jacks, an inductor coil, a range of capacitor types, several ICs and transistors, and a memory chip near its center. An onboard temperature sensor reads within about 2°C accuracy across a rated range of -30 to 65°C and can trigger an alarm if temperatures move outside expected limits. The Mark VIe operator interface runs on a Windows-based PC preloaded with CIMPLICITY graphics and the Control System Toolbox, which is what you'll use to check pack status and diagnostics rather than reading the board directly.
Diagnose the Pack Before You Order This Board
An alarm against the I/O pack that hosts this board isn't automatically a BPPB failure. Before replacing it:
- Check whether multiple I/O packs are alarming together. A shared +28 VDC power problem produces exactly that pattern and is far more common than several simultaneous processor-board failures.
- Confirm the field device and wiring connected to the pack. This board never sees that signal directly — a failed transmitter or loose terminal upstream can mimic a pack fault entirely.
- Check the pack's seating in the backplane and the cable running to its terminal board; loose connections here are a frequent, overlooked cause of intermittent alarms.
- Confirm which specific board inside the pack failed. This processor board shares its housing with other circuitry, so "the pack failed" doesn't automatically mean this part did.
Once power, wiring, and cabling are confirmed good through the Control System Toolbox diagnostics, replacing the BPPB is the appropriate next step.
What the IS200BPPBH2CAA Suffix Means
IS200 marks the platform, BPPB the function code, and H2CAA the group and revision — H2C for this later group, AA for the specific hardware revision. Don't treat H2C and H2B boards as interchangeable just because they share the BPPB function code; match the complete part number your system calls for. Related Boards Across Generations
This board is part of a broader family that also includes the H1A- and H2B-series BPPB boards used in earlier Mark VI I/O packs; if you're standardizing spares across a mixed fleet, verify hardware and firmware compatibility rather than assuming any BPPB board is a universal fit.
