IS200BPPBH2BGB: Power and Processor Interface, Not a Field I/O Card
It's easy to read "Analog I/O Processor Board" and picture a card that terminates field signals directly. The IS200BPPBH2BGB doesn't work that way. It's a daughterboard fitted inside a Mark VI I/O pack, where its job is to regulate +5 VDC and ±15 VDC power for the pack's other circuits from a +28 VDC nominal supply, and to manage the processor-to-rack data path over the backplane. The field wiring itself lands on the pack's own terminal board, not on this board. Physically, the BPPB attaches to its host motherboard with four standoffs through brass-plated corner holes, with three edges shaped to fit around other components, and it's built around two LEDs, two differently sized connectors, two phone jacks, an inductor coil, a mix of capacitors, several ICs and transistors, and a memory chip near the center — every part individually marked with a reference designator.
In TMR systems, expect three of these boards running in parallel, one per R, S, and T channel, each executing the turbine application software that ties its I/O pack into the wider control system. An onboard temperature sensor supports condition monitoring across the board's rated operating range and can raise an alarm if temperatures move outside expected bounds.
Checks to Run Before Ordering a Replacement
A fault reported against an I/O pack is not automatically a BPPB failure. Work through this list first:
- Is more than one pack in the same rack section alarming? That pattern usually points to the shared +28 VDC supply, not multiple coincidental processor board failures.
- Has the field device or wiring feeding this pack been checked? The BPPB has no direct visibility into that signal — a bad transmitter or a loose field terminal can look exactly like a pack fault.
- Is the pack fully seated in the backplane, and is the cable to its terminal board intact? Loose connections here are a frequent, easily overlooked cause of intermittent alarms.
- Has the actual failed component inside the pack been confirmed? The BPPB shares its housing with other circuitry, so "the pack failed" doesn't automatically mean this specific board did.
With shared power, field wiring, and cable connections ruled out, replacing the BPPB becomes the logical step.
What the IS200BPPBH2BGB Suffix Means
The part number splits into IS200 (platform), BPPB (function code), and H2BGB (group and revision), where H2B is the group/generation and GB is this specific revision. Several other H2B-series BPPB boards are stocked in this collection under different trailing letters — those are genuine revision differences, so always match the complete string. Our GE Speedtronic Part Number Decoder explains how to parse a full IS200 part number.
Related Boards
The BPPB design has been used across several Mark VI I/O pack types, so it's cataloged under a few different descriptive names depending on the host pack. Later Mark VIe hardware introduced a BPPC-based processor design for new I/O packs — treat that as a different generation, not an automatic substitute, unless GE documentation for your specific pack says otherwise.
