What this card is
The IC3600SOTE is the over-temperature card from GE's Speedtronic Mark I and Mark II generation — the IC3600 family, built from analog and discrete-logic cards long before microprocessor control reached the Speedtronic line.
It sits in the protection path. That is the whole point of it, and it is why sourcing it deserves more care than a routine I/O card.
Protection cards are not ordinary spares
An over-temperature card exists to take the machine offline before heat destroys it. If it is degraded, you may not find out until the day it was supposed to act. Two consequences follow:
-
Do not run a Mark I or Mark II protection path without a shelf spare. The IC3600 population is genuinely scarce — these are the oldest Speedtronic systems still in service, and the surviving card pool shrinks every year.
-
Match the revision. On protection cards, revision differences are not cosmetic. Read the number off the card and quote it in full.
Reading an IC3600 number
IC3600SOTE1C1B breaks into the family prefix (IC3600, Mark I / Mark II), the functional acronym (SOTE), and the trailing group and revision digits (1C1B). On cards this old the number is often stamped on the card edge or the ejector tab rather than silkscreened across the face — look there first.
The related IC3606 prefix belongs to the same generation and covers functions including isolated inputs, annunciator master cards and card extenders. If you are servicing one of these racks, the IC3606DEXB card extender is what lets you probe a live card outside the rack.
This unit
New surplus, no box (NSNB), with a 1-year warranty. For an IC3600-era protection card, new surplus is a genuinely uncommon condition.
What to include in your quote request
- The full part number including the trailing digits, read off the card.
- Whether the panel is Mark I or Mark II, and the rack type.
- Whether the card is in service or is a shelf spare.
- Whether you can accept an alternate revision — for IC3600 parts this is frequently the difference between finding one and not.
- Quantity, and whether you want us to watch the market for more.
