Relay Outputs on the GE Speedtronic Mark V
The DS200TCRA is the Mark V board that stands between the panel's output logic and the solenoids, motors and contactors it commands in the field. It carries up to thirty electromechanical plug-in relays, K1 through K30, and each one is a real contact that makes or breaks a field circuit when the turbine control asks for it. That mechanical duty is exactly why the relay board is a routine spare in most Mark V fleets.
The board is located in the Mark V digital I/O rather than in the <R>, <S>, <T> or <C> control cores. A digital I/O core holds a pair of TCRA boards driven by a TCDA digital I/O board, with the relay contacts brought out to the DTBC and DTBD terminal boards. The card stores no configuration; the terminal-board jumpers, not the TCRA, decide whether an output is a dry contact or a wetted solenoid supply.
Before You Condemn the Relay Card
It pays to prove the fault is on this board before you order one. The Mark V energizes a relay by having the TCDA sink one side of the coil to common while the other side is held at a fixed voltage, so a relay that will not pick up can be a TCDA driver problem, a ribbon-cable problem, a worn relay, or a fault in the field — and only two of those are the TCRA's doing.
- Verify the command reaches the TCDA. No command there means the issue is upstream and a new relay board changes nothing.
- Command present but no contact movement narrows it to the relay, the board, or the ribbon; watch for a plug-disconnected alarm that flags the ribbon.
- Test the field circuit. A shorted 125 VDC solenoid can burn the relay and the terminal-board traces and will destroy a replacement if it is fitted before the short is repaired.
The field consensus is straightforward: relays wear out and are usually replaced individually, while the whole board tends to fail only after a surge, a battery ground, or a downstream short. Knowing which you have is the difference between a quick relay swap and a wasted board.
How the TCRA Connects to the Rest of the Panel
The TCRA is one part of the Mark V I/O group. It is driven by the TCDA, terminated on the DTBC and DTBD boards, sits alongside the TCQA analog I/O, and draws its power through the TCPS. The GE Mark V DS200 Boards Explained guide maps how these connect, and the GE Mark V DS200 Boards collection shows current availability. If a control migration is on the horizon, Mark V vs Mark VI: DS200 to IS200 explains how the DS200 I/O becomes IS200.
Reading the Revision on Your TCRA
This card is a DS200TCRAG1A, full number DS200TCRAG1ACC. That breaks into DS200 (Mark V series), TCRA (relay-output function), G1 (group) and ACC (revision). A group 2 build also exists as DS200TCRAG2A, and because a group change can bring build differences, you should match the group and revision your panel was commissioned with, or confirm that a newer revision supersedes yours. Use the GE Speedtronic Part Number Decoder to check the fields, and read the number from the board silkscreen rather than any slot marking.
