Frequently Asked Questions
Do the SSDs come with PowerEdge drive trays?
Yes — 2.5-inch hot-plug drives can be supplied with the correct Dell carrier for 13th through 16th generation PowerEdge servers; tell us the server model and we match the tray.
Should I choose read-intensive or mixed-use SSDs?
Read-intensive drives (about 1 drive write per day) suit boot, web and read-heavy workloads; mixed-use drives (about 3 DWPD) suit databases and virtualization. Our endurance guide explains how to size DWPD and TBW.
Will a non-Dell SSD work in a PowerEdge server?
Generic drives often run but are flagged as non-certified by PERC and iDRAC; Dell-firmware drives avoid those warnings and receive Dell firmware updates.
